Japanese sticks also have a clickiness to them which offers a sort of tactile feedback, but a lot of people used to America sticks seem to think the clicking makes them feel like cheap toys. Most modern fighting gamers would argue that Japanese sticks give you more precision, since they’re looser and can be controlled with delicate wrist movements, versus the heavily-springed American sticks which you use your entire arm to move. A1U uses Japanese style joysticks, which you won’t have any issue with if you’re a modern fighting gamer, since console Fightsticks almost entirely switched to Japanese style sticks during the PS3 era. I think whether the stock controls suck depends a lot on whether you’re an 80s/90s arcade guy or a modern fighting game guy. Nintendo Killer Instinct 2 in a Killer Instinct 1 Cabinet Game works well, and has a nice monitor.
